Tina's Birthday

Today is Tina’s birthday and she has invited Carol, Bridget, Julie and  Rosa to come to her party this afternoon.   She is having a Mickey Mouse themed birthday party.

The girls have arrived with their birthday presents for Tina.

They have been invited inside and sit down on the floor while Tina opens her presents.
Julie’s present to Tina is a Ginny heart necklace which has Ginny on one side of the heart and 1999 on the other side. Tina happily smiles and says it is beautiful.

Tina opens Bridget’s present next and it is a big Hannah Pepper doll.   “Wow!” Exclaims Tina, ”this is the biggest doll I have seen.”

Rosa’s present to Tina is a Mickey Mouse ball. Tina says she has never seen a Mickey Mouse ball before.

Carol’s present to Tina is a Mickey Mouse Nintendo game and watch.

Tina moves her presents out the way and asks the girls to stay there while she gets a chair, the radio cassette player and a present so they can play pass the parcel.   Tina turns the music on and off as the wrapped present is passed around.  Bridget wins the game and it is a box of chocolates after all the wrapping paper is taken off.

The girls go outside and play with the Mickey Mouse ball and practise taking goals.  While they are playing Tina’s poodle comes outside with an envelope in his mouth.  Tina opens the envelope and it is a note to say the party food is on the table ready for them.

Tina blows the candle out on her birthday cake and the girls sing Happy Birthday to her. They talk, laugh and eat together.

They all have a turn at playing the Mickey Mouse game.  There are two hens on each side of the screen laying eggs and Mickey Mouse is standing on the ground with a basket to catch the falling eggs in the basket before they hit the ground. Time has passed quickly and it is time for the girls to go home.   They have all enjoyed Tina’s birthday party.

Toy Characters - Wombles

Colleen and Julie stand in front of a womble handkerchief with their womble toys.   The plastic womble toys are pencil sharpeners that were available in the 1970's.   The soft womble toys were produced for McDonalds in 1999.  The soft womble with the blue top is Alderney.

The wombles live under Wimbledon Common.  The Wombles are the tidiest creatures in the world and they spend a great deal of their time clearing up all the rubbish which people leave lying about.  This is a quote from one of Elisabeth Beresford’s Womble books.

Colleen and Julie have turns reading aloud to each other from the book called, Tomsk and the Tired Tree by Elisabeth Beresford.  Published in 1975.
