A Visit to a Rabbit Resuce Centre

Makareta and Sandra are waiting to be picked up by one of the helpers from the Rabbit Rescue Centre. Makareta and Sandra have collected three unwanted rabbits who the Rescue Centre has agreed to accept. Makareta has a basket of flowers to give to the helper who is going to drive them to the Rabbit Rescue Centre.  The Rabbit Rescue helper picks them up at the arranged time, (and yes the helper did notice that one rabbit had hopped out of the basket and caught the rabbit and put it in the car).

When they arrive at the Rabbit Rescue Centre the helper tells the girls what hutch to put the new rabbits into. He tells the girls they are welcome to go into the shed which is divided into cubicles on both sides of the length of the shed. They are told they can  have a look around at their own leisure.

The second cubicle has a hutch in it but the door is open and the rabbits are out. The rabbits are very tame and the girls catch the rabbits and put them back into the hutch.

Tina is outside looking at the garden at the Rabbit Rescue Centre. The gardener is dressed in the rabbit costume for fun because it is an open day at the Rabbit Rescue Centre today.

Tina has her photo taken with the 1950’s plastic toy rabbits that are on display in one of the cubicles. Tina gives the man who takes the photo a donation for the Rabbit Rescue Centre.

Lauren has also come to the Rabbit Rescue Centre’s open day and is playing with some rabbits in one of the cubicles.

Bridget is here too! She has her photo taken with the rabbits in another cubicle.

Lauren has gone to another cubicle to pat the rabbits.

Rabbit Characters

Peter Rabbit on the left is a top to a bottle and has no identification on it.  The Peter Rabbit on the right of Patti has underneath it, F W & Co 1996, Grosvenor. I think it is a toothbrush holder.

The left Bugs Bunny character has TM & 1994, Warner Bros. Made in China, underneath the base. The middle Bugs Bunny was made out of modelling clay about 20 years ago. The right Bugs Bunny character has TM & 1998, Warner Bros, China 2, on the back of his head.

The left rabbit is a McDonald’s toy issued in 2000. The middle plastic rabbit is a McDonald’s toy and so is the right rabbit. The rabbits are the character from Winnie the Pooh stories.

Joanna is reading Bonnie Bunny, a Lego character of Fabuland. The book was published in the UK in 1983. There are seven other character books in the set. Fabuland is a special world – a word inhabited not by ordinary people but by animals  who meet with all sorts of exciting and entertaining adventures.

The Maggie Raggies babies and girls

The Maggie Raggies 22 cm babies are playing with their teddies. Left to right is Bonnie, Bessie and Bernie.

The Maggie Raggies girls play outside

Ann and Brenda are twins. They are wearing different coloured dresses today but there is also another difference.  Can you spot the difference?

Ann has a disability; she was born without her right ear (left ear in photo). She has normal hearing in her other ear so she copes well. Today they have come to the river with bread to feed the swans.
The swans swim over when Ann and Joy start throwing the bread into the river.                                       (Please do not feed ducks/ swans in the water). One of the swans has its signets on its back.

Bella walks by and she stops to talk to Ann and Brenda and announces she is going to climb onto the wooden safety barrier.

Ann and Brenda have been told by their mother not to climb onto the barrier. Ann watches Bella climb onto the barrier and sit on it.  Ann copies and climbs onto the barrier and sits on it too.  Perhaps she didn’t hear her mother tell her not too!

Brenda suggests they go and climb a tree when they have fed all the bread to the swans. Ann quickly climbs up and looks out. “I can see Berta playing on the plastic drainage pipes.” She calls out to the others.  Brenda replies “Let’s go over to her.”

They run over to her. Berta sees them coming and is delighted to have some other girls to play with.

They all play tag together going in and out the pipes.

When they tire of that game they decide to make daisy chain necklaces before they all go home.

Editor’s note; these dolls are 22cm tall.

St Patricks Day 2014

Colleen is an Irish girl and her family celebrates St Patrick's Day each year  on the 17th March (the date St Patrick died) by wearing green or eating green food or decorating the inside of the house green.  (Since 1726 St Patrick taught about the Holy Trinity by showing the people the shamrock, a three-leafed plant to illustrate the Christian teaching of three persons in one god).

This year Colleen’s mum has allowed Colleen to invite a friend over to play on St Patrick's Day.  Colleen invites Rosa to come and play on St Patrick's Day.

Rosa chooses to wear a green dress because she knows Colleen celebrates St Patrick's Day.  When Rosa arrives at Colleen's house Colleen invites her in and tells her she has received a green beanie bear chair for a present today. She shows Rosa the green beanie bear chair and invites her to sit on it.

Rosa sits on it and says it is comfortable.  They are deciding what to play with when Colleen’s mother tells the girls that afternoon tea is ready.

Colleen and Rose have a bottle of lime cordial which they pour into their cups to drink. They eat green grapes and green apples… that’s a healthy afternoon tea.

When they finish their afternoon tea Colleen takes Rosa to her bedroom.  Her mother has put  Colleen's green toys on display  for them to play with.  Rosa is quite surprised to see so much green.

They sit on the bedroom floor and play with the green toys until it is time for Rosa to go home.   Rosa will always remember this happy St Patrick's Day!

The Gingerbread Man

Linda and Paula have arranged to visit Checkers CafĂ©. The Ginny girls love going to that cafĂ© because the cafĂ© has a theme or a character for about four weeks and then change the theme or character.  This Christmas holidays the Checkers CafĂ© have the gingerbread man as their theme.

Paula and Linda have arrived at the Café and they are each greeted at the door by a person dressed as the Gingerbread man. The person explains to them where to order their drinks and food and what side room has the display of gingerbread books in where they can go and look at the books.

They decide to go the side room and have a look at the books before they order a drink and some food.  On the wall they notice the poster of different gingerbread men and are surprised that there are so many different styles.

In the side room on a table are the books and the visitors are allowed to read the books.  The biggest book there is a Golden Super Shape Classic which was published in 1988.

Linda tells Paula she loves the, Andy Pandy and the Ginger Bread Man book because at the end of the story the gingerbread man jumps off the plate that is on the table and runs away but doesn’t get eaten by the fox.  Andy Pandy makes some plain buns without legs so they can't run away!
They look through the read it yourself Ladybird book for reading level 4.

Paula stands by Cadbury Classics, Story Block Collection version of the Gingerbread Man which was free with a block of Cadbury Chocolate. It is one of ten books issued.

Linda is standing by a Tip Top ice cream lid.

They finish looking at the books and the other gingerbread man items and walk over to the counter of the CafĂ©. Behind the counter on a cake rack cooling is a chocolate brownie man. Linda asks if she can have a piece and she is told it is too hot to cut now.

They order a drink and a gingerbread biscuit, (of course!) each. They go and sit down at one of the tables and the food is brought over to them. They drink their drink and eat their biscuit and talk about the gingerbread items they have looked at before they go home.

When they get home they can smell something coming from the kitchen. They walk into the kitchen and see Joanne has cooked some gingerbread men!

Madame Alexander Dolls

This is the first Alexander doll I brought.  She came as in the photo.  I have seen a photo of a Ginny doll with a dress on like she is wearing.  She has jointed knees and is 19cm tall.

This doll is 12.5cm high and on her back is 2005 Alexander Doll Company Inc, MFG for McD Corp. CHINA CGG CHINE. I don’t know what character she is but she was issued with other characters in the USA.
