Jana's Circus Life

Jana’s parents were the owners of a circus that travelled around the country giving performances in a town and then they would pack up and move on to another town.Jana’s mother made her a ringmaster costume just like the one her father use to wear.

Jana remembers riding into the big tent for a show on Jumbo the elephant.

After he walked around the ring he would bend his front knees and Jana would slide down his shoulder to get off.

Jana would walk over to get the ball and roll it towards him and he would kick the ball back to her. They would do a variety of ball activities together.

Jana also helped in the performing poodle’s act, by holding the hoop which the poodles would jump through as they entered the tent and go and sit on their allotted stool.

One poodle would push the pram around the ring with the chimpanzee sitting in the pram.

One poodle would rescue a doll at the top of a ladder when the clown lit a fire on a platform at the top of the ladder. The clown quickly put the fire out with a bucket of water after the doll was rescued.

Jana use to like watching the horse and chimpanzee performing.

Jana had to stand well back when her father had the lions in the enclosure doing their act.

Life with the circus was a long time ago ponders Jana as she plays with her circus toys. The circus toys are from Cornflakes and Rice Bubble cereal packets in the 1950’s or 1960's.

Mickey Mouse Memorabilia - part 2

Sandra has her Minnie Mouse dress up clothes on. Her Minnie Mouse soft toy was from McDonald’s and is one of Walt Disney World Millennium Collectables available in year 2000.

Julie is trying on her new dress which is made from a tissue box cover.

The label on Minnie reads: Bride Minnie Bean Bag, production of China, Walt Disney World.  It was possibly made in 2000.  The card was made by a friend in the 1980’s.

Lauren has her hands up in despair because the Barbie doll dress is too big for her.

Louisa is standing by a well-worn girl’s swimming costume.

Tina is sitting by a t shirt which features Minnie mouse. It would fit a 6-8 year old child Tina has on her knee a clear plastic coaster with Mickey Mouse on it.

Colleen is reading an article that says Minnie will wear a pantsuit designed by Stella McCartney, (her father is Paul McCartney of the Beatles). It will celebrate 30 years of Disneyland Paris. The article is cut from a July 2022 magazine.
