The Queen is having afternoon tea with Paddington Bear.
Last year it was good to have the Anzac service again. In
2020 the service was cancelled and people came outside and stood by their
letterboxes at 6 am in the morning.
This year the girls have been given a tin of Anzac biscuits
and $1 from this tin goes to RSA NZ. This 2022 RSA NZ Collector’s Edition Tin
is designed by Dame Trelise Cooper. On the back of the tin Dame Trelise Cooper
says, “I believe it is important to commemorate the brave souls and their
families who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we and future generations may
live in Peace.
The girls have been to the 10 am Anzac service at Anzac Park
and are their having morning tea with their drinks and Anzac biscuits from the
tin they received. There was no order of service printed this year.
This is another Anzac tin that is available this year
designed by Trelise Cooper.
The Amanda Jane dolls are going to celebrate the Queen’s 96th birthday at the Café with the Ginny dolls.
Barbara has put on her light blue dress which her mother made years ago and it is still too big for her. She doesn’t want to wear it but her mother says that it is a nice dress and she will grow into it.
The waiter
today is dressed in a Beefeater uniform.
This is the
Queen’s official birthday photo. (I haven't got a copy yet).
The owner of
the Café has put a life size wooden horse on the property for the celebration
of Queen Elizabeth’s birthday. Customers are allowed to take their photo by the
horse for a donation of $1.00 which will be given to a charity.
Margaret and
Victoria have their photo taken by the wooden cut out horse.
Rosa and Makareta, who were in the Café with other Ginny
dolls have come outside to have their photo taken by the wooden cut out horse.
An English Brownie is in New Zealand and has brought a
packet of Girl Guide biscuits from the local supermarket. She remembers when
she walked with a partner to house to house carrying the biscuits in a
carton to sell them in the 1950’s.
Whittaker’s in New Zealand has made a caramelised white chocolate called Blondie which was in the supermarket in February of this year.
Amanda Jane hopes she will get picked to dance in the
Nutcracker ballet.
This is the first Amanda Jane doll I brought. I brought her
in 2012 and she is the only Amanda Jane doll at the moment that has shoes. She
has lovely bright blue eyes.
The Amanda Jane dolls are playing with the Countdown
Supermarket Lego that was available from the Countdown Supermarket last year.
Happy Easter. This is the second Amanda Jane doll I brought.
Barbara is with the Whittaker’s creamy and milk chocolate kiwi. 20 cents of
each kiwi sold goes to help Save the Kiwi.
On behalf of all the Groovy Girls living at Kowhai Corner
Jacinda and Phoebe hope the readers have a very happy year during 2022.
Last Christmas Oki received a Christmas present in a carry
bag. Oki looks in to see what it is. Inside the carry bag is a red box.
Oki opens the red box and inside she finds a take away
coffee from Gloria Jean’s Café. Janisse comes over to see what Oki’s present
is. Oki offers her a mouthful but Janisse declines. Janisse loves football so
eats healthy so she can get into the top football team in New Zealand.
Jacinda arrived in Kowhai Corner undressed, (hence why she
has her teddy bear in front of her),
but Polly was able to find some clothes for Jacinda to wear before she went
to the Accomodation Centre to meet the other Groovy Girls.
Sarita and Celeste are reading the pamphlet delivered to
