Jana is watching the clown who is teaching his dog to perform to the
music he is playing.
The chimp is practising her routine. She cycles round the ring on a Penny Farthing
bike to the post box. After the poodle posts
the letter the chimp gets off the bike and opens the back of the post box. The chimp takes out the sack of letters and carries it on the bike and cycles around to the other side of the ring to the entrance where she hands the post bag to a
clown.
Huxley Pig at the
Circus by Rodney Peppe. Huxley has a circus adventure when he puts on a clown’s
outfit from the old suitcase his granny gave him. He goes to the circus and gets more than he bargained
for when he meets his friend Horace who tells him to hop into the clowns fire
engine. This book was published by
Fantail Publishing in 1989.
Jana is practising her routine with the dogs, (in the new
Big Top tent) when her cousin comes over to her and asks if he could borrow a
dog to do his new trick with which is putting a dog in the cannon and firing
the dog to the other side of the tent where a clown or Jana can catch it. The dogs look at each other in dismay. None
of them wants to volunteer to do that.
Jana asked her cousin why he doesn’t use one of his monkeys
for that trick. He answered that the
monkey won’t stay in the cannon long enough for it to be lit and fired. He has successfully taught one of his monkeys
to ride a unicycle around the ring.
