Talents at number 28

I went with a friend  to ask the owner of this letter box if I could take a photo of the letter box with Rose standing on the balcony.

The owner allowed the photo to be taken and his wife invited us inside to see what else her husband has made out of wood.

Here are two of the many wooden vintage cars that were on a shelf.

Rosa is standing by a Clydesdale horse. All the wooden items are made out of scrap wood.

Rosa is watching the man make horse shoes.

Rosa is standing by a beautiful carved horse.

Rosa walks to the corner of the room to meet the penguin who is standing in the shade.

The Black Panther has come over for a pat.

The tuatara silently crawls over and bites Rosa’s dress. Rosa turns around and gives him a pat. He is just been playful and is tame.

The fawn is looking for a drink from her mother.

The otter wants to go outside to the water.

Rosa has a ride on the tractor before she leaves.

Rosa admires the tapestry done by the lady of the house on her way out. She has had a wonderful time meeting the animals and will tell the other Ginny’s at home all about her visit to number 28.

Girl Guide Biscuits 2015

Lauren was outside a supermarket this morning with some other girls, from the Girl Guide Pack that she attends, to sell Girl Guide Biscuits.  Lauren has brought home a packet of Girl Guide biscuits and a recipe to make Chocolate Caramel Slice.

This is a cloth doll wearing  the 1980’s New Zealand Brownie uniform.

This knitted English Brownie doll is a pattern of Jean Greenhowe. It was knitted in the 1980’s by a lady in New Zealand. It is approx. 28 cm tall.

This cloth doll is wearing brown shorts and a yellow blouse/tee shirt which Brownies could wear on some occasions in the 1970’s. The doll is standing by a Girl Guide biscuit carton which the girls use to carry and walk from house to house to try and sell the biscuits.

An Irish Saying

May your roof never fall in and those beneath never fall out.

Joanne is talking to Murphy who is 15 cm in sitting position.

Murphy bear is made by Russ Berrie UK Ltd, item no 322, Reg no 259.

Joanne is standing behind the Belleek boat which is made in Ireland no 0581. The Jug is also Belleek, made in Ireland, no 0857. The Photo doesn’t show the lemon glaze on the leaves of the jug.

The bell (floral) in front of Joanne is by Donegal, Irish parian china. The other bell with clovers going around it is by Galway, Ireland, Royal Tara. The pepper shaker with the clover on the front is unmarked.

The Pineapple Pieces

Julie and Rosa are at Checkers Café. It is called Checkers Café because it is a good idea to ring the Café before you visit to find out what theme is on at the moment. This month the theme is pineapples.

Rosa and Julie are outside the Café trying out the soft pineapple patterned chair which the Café has put outside for customers to use.

They walk inside to the display room as they do they put their sunglasses on as the yellow wall is bright. They stand by the china pineapple pencil holder (which has no identification on it) for a photo.

This is a pineapple lamp which sparkles when turn on. (This also has no identification on it).

This pineapple coin purse has a metal label, Billabong, on the front of the purse.

The girls are looking at a 2009 empty packet of Pineapple Lumps.

Julie is comparing the 2009 empty packet of Pineapple Lumps to the 2015 full packet of Pineapple Lumps.

Julie and Rosa are sitting by a packet of m & m’s new pineapple flavour which came on sale in the shops in February 2015 for the first time.

Julie has a squeeze toy pineapple in front of her and Rosa has a pineapple china plate which was made in Japan in front of her.  There are two pineapple wrapped lollies in the centre.

Julie is standing by a wooden pineapple that has holes where you can put toothpicks with cheese and pineapple pieces on. Rosa is holding a wooden shaped pineapple fridge magnet.

The girls had a drink of pineapple juice at the Café before they went home.
