Ginny's Doll Friends

These are Roddy dolls. Left doll is 17 cm high, back markings are RODDY MADE IN ENGLAND. Walker doll has head moulded to body, has open/close blue eyes and cannot sit down. Right doll is 9 cm high, back markings are RODDY MADE IN NEW ZEALAND. Has open/close brown eyes, legs moulded with body so legs cannot move. Both arms move together and can be turned right around.

This cut out doll is made of soft cardboard. The  doll has a back which is folded over at the top of the hat and the other items also fold over for the back . There is no identification on the items but I am sure it was manufactured in the 1950's or before.

Carrie dolls were made by Palitoy and made in Hong Kong. They are 14 cm and are wearing knitted dresses I made. They were available late 1970’s or early 1980’s. They were described in a toy catalogue as follows; This is Carrie – your very own baby doll. Carry her with you wherever you go! She is a beautiful little baby, with sleeping eyes and her very own baby bouncer.

The doll on left has made in England on her back and is 10 cm high with jointed arms and legs, open/close blue eyes and cannot move her head. She originally had yellow mohair glued on her head. The pink doll has no markings, joint arms and legs, open/close eyes and can’t move her head. Both are my dolls which I played with in the 1950’s.

These Amanda Jane dolls were made in England.   The left doll has blue open/close eyes and the far right doll has grey open/close eyes and both are 18cm high.  The middle standing doll is a more modern version with painted brown eyes and is 18cm high.   The sitting doll is marked Amanda Jane 12 73 on the back of her head and is 15cm high and is wearing original clothes.

The middle doll is a walking all plastic 19 cm doll. The back markings are; TUDOR ROSE MADE IN ENGLAND REG NO 870825.The side dolls are hard plastic just over 9 cm tall and I can’t read the back marking.

This doll is made of hard plastic and is 20 cm high with open/close blue/gray eyes. On her back is made in England. Her hair was glued onto her head but most has worn off now. She is sitting on a Barbie doll chair.

These dolls are made from hard plastic and have no identification on them. They are 16 cm high some have legs jointed and can sit down some did not have jointed legs only jointed arms that could move up and down.  Some just had the moulded hair others had the hair glued on and they were available in the 1950’s. The one on the left was my sisters and I had one with blonde glued on hair that could sit plus one that couldn’t sit and just had the moulded hair. I spent hours as a child playing with these dolls.
