A Picnic at Sculpture Park

Carol was asleep when the phone rang in the morning.  She sleepily stretched her arm out of bed to pick the phone receiver up.

She was pleased to hear Julie’s voice at the other end of the phone and sat up while Julie invited her to join  Rosa,  Bridget and herself at Sculpture Park.  “We will meet you at the ball sculpture at 11.30 pm for a picnic lunch.”

Carol doesn’t have a clock.  Carol got out of bed and put her dressing gown on and selected the clothes she will wear to take to the bathroom and turned the tap on for a bath.

Carol enjoyed her warm bath even though she couldn’t find her yellow plastic duck to play with.

Carol wrapped a towel around herself and climbed out of the bath to get dressed.

Julie, Rosa and Bridget are at Sculpture Park waiting for her.  It is after 11.30 pm and they wonder if she is on her way.  Sculpture Park is a place at Kowhai Corner especially for Ginny girls. Although there is no playing equipment there at the moment, there are plans to add some this year.

Bridget hears some squealing in the shrubs so she goes over and investigates. It is a mother guinea pig with her two babies.

The girls decide to set out the picnic food. A friendly fantail is twittering around them interested in what they are going to do next.

Carol arrives (just in  time) and the girls are pleased to see her.

While they are having their picnic some kiwis and a pukeko become curious and come over to see what they are eating! It is not often you can have a picnic with native wildlife coming this close to you.
